In change there is power

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, and embrace the new. But there is not security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting. For in movement there is life and in change there is power.” -Alan Cohen

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I just had to choose this quote this week because it was so incredibly fitting with what I’ve been going through recently. Change is hard and I’ve never  been a fan of it. But Mr. Cohen is right, it’s exciting and empowering. Like when I went off to college- scary. I didn’t want to leave my high school boyfriend. Or my family. Or my friends. Or everything that I had worked so hard to get. But college was amazing. I made wonderful new friends and learned a ton- sometimes against my wishes. But it made me a better, stronger person- AND it was fun.

Lately, that’s what I’ve had to tell myself. That moving out and in with one of my best friends and starting this new chapter in my life will be fun and exciting and absolutely rewarding once I just jump off the fence. But it’s hard and scary. Having to pack and update my address. Having to leave something that I thought was going to last forever sucks. But I remind myself that this temporary discomfort will be worth it in the long run. That in time everything will work out and it will be far more rewarding then my current unhappiness with my situation.
