The Matte Attempt

This Sunday for worship I decided I wanted to matte my nails. As I dont own any matte nail polish I decided I would try to make my own. I’ve seen pins on how to make your nail polish matte with some cornstarch or eye shadow. Let me stop you there : don’t waste your time. It doesn’t work.

Instead I decided I was going to buy some O.P.I. matte top coat and give it a try. I read a lot of reviews online- all which said it worked by chipped pretty quick. I wanted the matte look though and the O.P.I. matte polish was all I could find at my local Ulta.

Since I was going to use the matte polish for the first time I figured I would just do solid nails and work up to the cool matte nail art ideas I’ve seen. I painted the nails I was going to matte first to give them a second to dry.

Overall, I was fairly satisfied with the initial result. Sunday my nails looked great, the difference between the matte and non matte nails was apparent. However, as I write this on Tuesday morning, 4 out of 6 of the nails with the matte polish are chipped as opposed to none of the other four being chipped. With that being said, if you only want/need your nails to have the matte look for a day or two tops, I would definitely recommend the matte top coat by O.P.I. If you want the look to last longer, be prepared to have to touch up your nails.

Until next time,
Xoxo
