The Best Activewear for short & busty ladies

athleticwear - amazon, hawthorne, Lorna Jane
Amazon top, Lorna Jane Support Sports Bra, Amazon Hawthorne leggings

Alright, ladies, I get a lot of questions about my activewear and what my favorite and/or most trusted brands are. Full disclosure, I don’t have discounts to all the places I’m about to recommend, but if I do, I may get some shopping credit towards my next purchase too! Sweet, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get down to it!

As a short lady, I understand how difficult it can be to find leggings that aren’t too long. Trust me when I say that I’ve returned or resold many-a-pair. There’s a few pairs (like the Hawthorne ones pictured at left) that are a smidge too long but are just so comfortable that I will live with a little extra material at the bottom.

I also understand how difficult it is to find a support bra that keeps you in place during your workouts. I lift weights and do cardio training (with the occasional run when it’s nice out) and I don’t want to be bouncing all over the place or spilling over the top. To me, it’s one of the most annoying feelings when I’m pushing hard in my workout and have to pause to pull my bra up because the ladies are spilling out. I don’t have time for that and neither do you. With that being said, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite sports bras that keep me locked and loaded for my entire workout.

Stats at time of original writing:

Height:5’2″ (although I don’t anticipate this changing)
Weight: 142
Bra Size: 32DD
Clothing size: Generally Medium (6/8)

Let’s just start at the top and work our way down.

 Sports Bras:

athleticwear - Shefit - CRZ Yoga
Shefit Ultimate Bra and CRZ Yoga Naked Feeling leggings -25 inch with pockets

Shefit. Y’all, I will 100% admit that I was influenced to buy this based off Facebook ads. I was super skeptical at first but figured I could return it if I hated it. It is no joke. As soon as it arrived I jumped up and down in it and there was no bounce! If you’re well endowed up top, you know how rare this is. Since purchasing mine, I’ve recommended it to a few friends who have also fallen in love with it. I also love that it’s a front zip and the band and straps are velcro so you can tighten them for a more secure fit. Being able to adjust the band so much is also an added bonus as you lose weight since you don’t have to buy a completely new bra!

I’m wearing the Ultimate, in Black, size Medium at right.

Price: They’re around $70 but I promise they’re worth it. I’ve added my promo code to the link so you’ll get $10 of your first purchase!

Budget Tip: Make sure you also have the Rakuten Cash back app, because they are on there!

Lorna Jane. This is definitely a luxury brand for me but these sports bras are 100% worth it. The majority of their sports bras are heavy or maximum impact and have ways that you can adjust the straps for a more secure fit. I now own 4 of them (all size Medium) in different styles and I can safely recommend three of them:

The Compress and Compact Sports Bra
The Support Sports Bra and one other that is also no longer on the site.

I tried the Iconic Sports bra but found it didn’t offer enough support. This sports bra would be good for lounging around the house or perhaps yoga, but I definitely can’t recommend it if you’re a runner.

Price: $50-$100. I generally buy them when they are on sale. They are also on the Rakuten cash back app.

Leggings

For starters, they are all squat proof, which is an absolute must if you wear them for working out.

CRZ Yoga: This is an Amazon brand and is absolutely budget friendly. I’ve tried a handful of different lengths and compressions and I’m here to guide you on the best options. These have widely been compared to LuLuLemon dupes at a fraction of the cost. I intentionally bought them in different colors/patterns so that I could remember which was which when suggesting them for you.

All pairs were purchased in size Medium.

athleticwear - CRZ Yoga - Shefit
Shefit Ultimate Sports Bra and CRZ Yoga 19 inch Naked Feeling Leggings with Pockets

Naked Feeling High Waisted Yoga Pants with Pockets – 25 Inches. These are the grey ones that I have on in the photo above with the Shefit bra. As you can see, these are ankle biter length for me. They aren’t too long that I have to roll them up. The compression level is perfect for me (I generally like more compression) and the pockets are an added bonus. I also love the high waistband, it holds everything in and the band doesn’t roll down when I’m working out. Out of all the leggings I’ve bought from CRZ Yoga, these are the ones that I wear the most. Another item in the “pro” list is that they don’t pick up pet hair.

Price: $28

For a slightly shorter alternative, try the Naked Feeling High Waist Gym Workout Capris Leggings with Pockets – 19 Inches. These are the exact same compression, still with pockets and buttery smooth fabric.

Price: $26-$30 depending on print

I’ve tried multiple other yoga pants from CRZ Yoga, so if you do have questions, I’d be happy to answer them! However, the two above are the ones I recommend the most.

athleticwear - Fabletics and VSX
Fabletics Mila High-Waisted Pocket Capri and VSX Sports Bra (discontinued style)

Fabletics Mila High-Waisted Pocket Capri are my other go to and I own 4 pairs of them. I also own one pair of full length Mila Leggings in the Petite size. I love that they have a petite option because they fit me like I would expect a full length legging to. For the most part though, I wear the capris.

Fabletics offers a handful of different fabrics across different styles and after having tried all of them, this is by far my favorite as it is their highest compression. I love that they are high waisted, I am definitely held in and they have a thick waistband that doesn’t fall down. I’d also like to add that these lift my booty and make it look real nice – so that’s always an added bonus!

Fabletics doesn’t officially list the inseam length on their site, but these hit me in the same spot that 21 inch leggings do, so that’s my rough estimate. The photo at left shows exactly where they land on me.

Price: $65 non-VIP, $50 for VIP but I usually get them when they are on sale. If you’re a new VIP member then you can get two pairs for $12 each.

athleticwear - Zyia and Lorna Jane
Lorna Jane Lotus Tights and Zyia Bomber Sports Bra

Lorna Jane Lotus leggings. I have both the ankle biter length and the capri (7/8) length. I’m wearing the 7/8 length in the photo at right. The ankle biters really do hit at my ankle. What’s really awesome about Lorna Jane is they tell you exactly what the inseam will be for each size and legging length. This has been very handy for me when choosing my leggings. Out of all the workout leggings I wear regularly, these ones have the least compression and attract the most pet hair. They are one of Lorna Jane’s best selling leggings and they really are incredibly comfortable. You could easily wear these leggings all day and have a second skin feel. Unlike my other top rated leggings, these ones do not have pockets.

Price: $100 (but you can sometimes find them on sale for $50). This pair I actually paid $40 for as part of a new customer promotion.

There you have it! My favorite pieces of activewear that you’ll find me in daily! As I find more brands I love, I’ll make a new post – so please message me with suggestions of brands I should try!
