What doesn’t Bring you Alive

“Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn that anyone or anything that does not bring you alive is too small for you.”
-David Whyte

Happy hump day! Wednesday now always reminds me of the Geico camel commercial. Not that I’m complaining because that commercial is seriously hilarious. If you haven’t watched it you need to click on that link and do it. NOW!

Anyway, I’m going to try to make my post a little longer today because the last ones have been so short (my apologies- there’s been a lot going on). But let’s talk about today’s quote and the relevance of it to my life.

I found this quote a few years ago and it always makes me feel better when I’m going through a rough patch…which has kinda been a lot lately. But at the end of the day the takeaway is, if it doesn’t make you happy and you aren’t having fun- then it’s time to do-or find- someone/thing else. That’s not always easy because let’s be honest, comfort is pretty well, comfy. And who doesn’t like being comfy? I know I sure do. But there comes a point where you and I have to realize that comfy doesn’t make us grow as a person and eventually if we are kept in that situation we will resent our significant other or job or town or whatever it is. That in turn will make others angry at us and will begin a vicious cycle.

So I encourage you, whatever it is, if it isn’t bringing you alive to let it go. It will only make you a better and happier person down the road.

xoxo
