Katie

chi town 105Let me just begin by saying how much I love this girl. She has been with me through thick and thin.

Katie and I met in college my freshman year when she was a junior. She transferred in that year so she was placed on a freshman floor. I wasn’t friends with Katie when I first met her- I was actually friends with her room mate (whom I now no longer talk to.) Katie and I bonded over an untrustworthy girl on her floor (I lived in a different dorm) who was spreading smack about me. Since then Katie and I have been best friends- we were even room mates the following year. We have been together through the bad boyfriends and messy breakups, through birthdays, job interviews, parents divorces, pet’s deaths and more.

Katie now lives in Chicago and it’s harder to see her. But we still make it work and we talk via email and text all the time. And when we do get together you better believe that we act like we’re in college all over again.

One of my favorite colleges memories with Katie involve getting dressed all in black, having a few drinks, filling up water balloons and breaking on to the roof of my dorm. (Incredibly against the rules BTW.) Us, along with our other friend, Tara, then through the water balloons off at passers-by on our pedmall. Someone ended up calling our campus security and we had to jump back in the windows and hide for awhile. After we finished with those shenanigans we ran around and Katie made friends with a bunch of water bottles named Mark. All of them.

Lately, Katie and I have been having lots of conversations about jobs. How I want to move around in mine and how she needs to get a new one. I’m super excited for her looking for a new job and she’s been really supportive of me being torn between leaving and sticking it out and making a name for myself at this company.

I am blessed to have her in my life. She’s not just my best friend- she’s my sister!
